"Creating a World - and Living With It"
A Workshop for Writers
by Rachel Lee
Population - Central, Cameo, and Continuing Characters: Rachel Lee
In this section, we will discuss the development of characters, with emphasis on the three types of characters commonly found in a book: Central, Cameo, and Continuing.
Each of these character types have special considerations when world building. Your world is an actor, with its own scale, scope, and sense, but it needs characters to support a story. If this will be a single story, you'll have central and cameo characters. If it's a series, some or all of those may be continuing characters.
